Most people today use some sort of MP3 player be it an Ipod or similar while on the move, or otherwise Itunes or Windows Media Player to play your stuff while at home.

The problem I find is that while ripping your CD's the data such as artist names, track names, year, etc. is populated from the Gracenote cddb on the internet. This database however is populated by us users, and therefore consistancy of the data could be a problem. It could therefor elook quite silly iwhen a double album called "Greatest Hits" have the first album called "GREATEST HITS DISC 1" and where the second CD is called "Greatest Hits CD2". It might not be a huge difference, but when looking at it in Itunes etc. it looks quite unprofessional.I n addiiton there are plenty of other problems with spelling, missing/wrong data etc. With all of these annoying things messing up my user interfaces I decided to do some data cleaning on my MP3's metatags.

I therefore had a desperate need for a tool that could help me change such tags on an individual basis as well as on a number of MP3's in a batch.

So how did I go about sorting my problem?

As usual I resorted to Google, and after downloading, testing, then cursing and finally deleting a few socalled "free" programs which proved to either be useless, or simply not free at all, I found this piece of sw called Mp3tag. This is truly free, and the current version 2.43 is less than 2MB to download. Installation was straight forward, and within a few minutes I was in business re tagging my mp3's

I just love this piece of software, and highly recommend this !!

P.S. While you are at it, remember to add the album cover to each mp3 file. Trust me you will appreciate this later on even if you don't see the point at the time. It just looks so much better when that album cover pops up on your ipod or phone while playing the tracks. :)
